| Things are already different, and Obama doesn’t take office until January 20th. Chief among the differences is this: we wish him well. Instead of law suits and eight years of questioning the legitimacy of George Bush&a ... | | |

| A Face in the Crowd | | Chairman's Thoughts
| By colweaver on12/3/2008 8:32 AM | |
| The 1957 movie, A Face in the Crowd, wasn’t the warm and friendly little story that made Andy Griffith famous, because this time Andy is in jail instead of at the jail. The drunk, dirty, stinking and obnoxious opening scenes shock you until you get used to the idea that this isn’t Andy of Mayberry.   ... | | |

| You can call me... | | Chairman's Thoughts
| By colweaver on11/23/2008 7:56 PM | |
| Some of my democrat readers (they read our website more than you do) recently called me dumb, stupid, rude, narrow minded and a school yard bully. Well I guess they don’t like me much, or their ad hominems are indicative of their frustration at our successes. If it’s true that a man without enemies is a man without character, then that makes me captain courageous or something. They strongly suggested that my narrow vi ... | | |

| When was the last time you heard a Congressman or U.S. Senator jump up and claim responsibility for failure...............................................................................? Well, I can’t think of anyone either; it’s just not done. Our new president, though not a senator lon ... | | |

| WHO IS JOHN GALT? | | Chairman's Thoughts
| By colweaver on10/30/2008 2:50 PM | |
| Who is John Galt? Those of you who have read Ayn Rand’s opus “Atlas Shrugged” understand the question. It’s an important fifty year old book, but at 1168 pages, I can’t possibly summarize it for you in a few short paragraphs and do it justice. The good guys are capitalists, and the bad guys are bureaucrats. The story is about what happens to the world after the bureaucratic leeches win control and the capitalist producers, well, quit producing. | | |

| Obama--Messiah or Trinity? | | Chairman's Thoughts
| By colweaver on10/20/2008 9:03 AM | |
| It’s my duty to help you sort through the rhetoric of this campaign. Providentially, I’ve been a salesman my entire adult life and I believe a successful one, because I can distill complexity into terms my customers can understand. I suspect no one actually wades into these missives; in reality I’m writing for my own entertainment. However, on the outside chance some sleepless soul might seek a remedy, then any port in a storm as they say. Some refer to Obama as the Messiah, and there is reason to believe he doesn’t dispute that. He’s smart and knows it, but beautiful wo ... | | |

| Get Off Your... | | Chairman's Thoughts

| I’m heartily sick of hearing about polls. Someone just drove by to tell me that we’ve lost the national election, so we’d better make sure we win here in Indiana. That is ridiculous; the election isn’t over yet. Ask President Dewey and President Kerry about the polls. Republicans who have time to watch the polls evidently don’t have enough to do. I recommend making precinct phone calls or going door-to-door with one of our teams. You won’t hear gloom and doom out on the street. & ... | | |

| SO WHAT? | | Chairman's Thoughts
| By colweaver on10/19/2008 10:43 AM | |
| Colin Powell endorsed Obama this morning, and some of you are surprised. I’m surprised that you are surprised—what did you really expect? He called Obama “transformational.” Yeah, right, he is as politically transformational as Elmer Gantry was theologically. I was in the army for thirty years; some drove while others rode impervious to the usual requirements of accountability. Powell's endorsement only affirms what some see the main issue to be. | | |

| “It appears to me that it is a bit of a gamble as to whether he will ever make any real contributions of an important character, but if he does make good at all, I believe he will be a very unusual success.” Those words are from a letter of recommendation written by Harvard professor Percy Bridgman. He was writing to one of the world’s leading physicists about a student who graduated with a BS in chemistry summa cum laude in only two years. Bridgman was asking a lot from the eminent English physicist Ernest Rutherford to accept an unknown with such a questionable recommendation. &am ... | | |
