He can do for all fifty stars what he did for the 19th star
Chairman's Thoughts By colweaver on5/30/2009 11:44 AM

I want to make sure that everyone gets a chance to see what a real President of the United States could look and sound like. Fifty years hence, our childrens's children will tour the Indiana State House and they'll see Governor Daniels portrait. They will know who he was and why he is important.

Mitch keeps saying he won't run for any elected office again. I don't blame you Mitch, but it isn't just about you. Our nation is in dire need of a President not a Messiah. Mitch Daniels does not need a teleprompter to connect with the American People because he knows what he means, and he means what he says.

He is living proof that substa ...

Chairman's Thoughts By colweaver on5/30/2009 5:41 AM
We who view the U.S. Constitution as a sacred document are justifiably worried about the nomination of Sotomayor to a life term on the Supreme Court. Especially those of us who, at one time or another, took the oath to preserve, protect, and defend it.

The United States is unique in that its soldiers and high officials take an oath to a piece of paper instead of a person, place, or thing. That piece of pap ...

Chairman's Thoughts By colweaver on5/29/2009 4:40 AM
Radical environmentalists like Al Gore feign concern about your welfare, but do not be misled, because it’s all about power for them. What about power for you? I’m not talking about political power but the inexpensive electrical power that makes your modern life style possible.

Gore and his cronies are so rich that they will always have access to private airplanes, big cars, and hea ...

Ready, Fire, Aim
Chairman's Thoughts By colweaver on5/28/2009 11:13 AM
Ready, Fire, Aim! Now that the Dear Leader has his sights set on our health care system we may not have as much to fear after his Guantanamo debacle

Now everyone in the world knows what DL’s Guantanamo plan was—there was no plan; it was a classic case of Ready, Fire, Aim. It’s so bad that his running dog lackeys in Congress couldn’t choke it down. They k ...

The King and I
Chairman's Thoughts By colweaver on5/27/2009 5:58 AM
Now that so many of us are relegated to the loyal opposition it is therefore incumbent upon us to find ways to show our loyalty and not just oppose the dictates of our Dear Leader. After all, over fifty seven million of us disagreed with what we already knew about Dear Leader before his apotheosis, and I can only speculate how many more have joined us as they discover for themselves whose ox is about to be gored.

Change is what the Pied Piper and his Court are all about, so how can we loyally help them lead us down to the water? I believe I’ve discove ...

Michigan gets new GOP leader
Chairman's Thoughts By colweaver on5/26/2009 12:37 PM

Michigan has a new state chairman. His name is Ron Weiser, and he is shaking things up in a party that hasn’t had too many successes in recent years.

Success, however, is always in the eye of the beholder. Michigan’s democrat governor Jennifer Grandholm is one of Indiana’s most valuable players. She is one of the most disastrous public servants since Robert McNamara, but ain’t she been good to Indiana. Thanks Jennifer for raising taxes in an already disastrous economy and sending all those oppressed business people over to us. Perhaps you can ...

The speaker of the House resigned yesterday. No, not ours, it was theirs. It’s been over 300 years since a speaker of the British House of Commons was forced to resign, but it is a great idea that Princess Nancy should consider before she gets in any deeper.

Nixon says it ain't over.
Chairman's Thoughts By colweaver on5/19/2009 7:32 AM
I don’t even remember what the Six Crises were; it’s been several years since I read Nixon’s book. Nixon was a prolific writer producing nine books. Eight of them were best sellers, and that’s for good reason, because he was an excellent writer.

Chairman's Thoughts By colweaver on5/15/2009 6:35 PM

If you’ve read the transcripts of the final moments of Colgan Air 3407 released this week then you have a prime example of what happens when you aren’t minding the store.

I read the entire transcript from taxi to crash, and they apparently breached most cockpit discipline protocols. Above 10,000 ...

They don't get it!
Chairman's Thoughts By colweaver on5/14/2009 4:13 AM

Sometimes I have to take a deep breath and count to ten. It’s not the democrats who’ve raised my blood pressure this time, it’s those, so called, Republicans in Washington.

Some of you may have also received a letter this week from Mr. Randy Pullen, Treasurer of the Republican National Committee. Mr. Pullen wants to know if we’ve given up on the Party since he hasn’t seen a check. His records show that I haven’t renewed my RNC mem ...

Monthly Breakfast

If you didn't get up to attend our monthly breakfast, you certainly missed a good one. Fifty eight Republicans joined our future congressman and current Secretary of State Todd Rokita and our State Auditor Tim Berry for great food and an interesting political discussion. Tim's analysis of Indiana's financial situation was enlightening. This was our first time as guests of Committeemen Bill and Brenda Mitchell and their team at the Brooklyn Christian Church. We hope they will volunteer to host us again; they did a great job.

Upcoming Events

We have exciting events in the offing. Eighty five Republicans joined us on Saturday 20 Feb to meet four of the 4th District candidates for Congress. On Saturday 20 March the Lieutenant Governor of Indiana Becky Skillman is our guest along with U.S. Senate candidate Marlin Stutzman. The March breakfast is a pancake breakfast hosted by Mae Cooper at the Morgan County Administration Building 180 S. Main St., Martinsville. We'll start at 8:00 AM.

Looking ahead there will be no April breakfast because of our annual Lincoln Day Dinner on Thursday 22 April, where our speaker is the former and future Speaker of the Indiana House of Representatives, Brian Bosma.

Looking forward to May for the warm weather and a big race, we also have for the first time the Auditor of the State of Indiana Tim Berry attending our breakfast. Again, we are trying a new location for this breakfast: The Brooklyn Christian Church, 7 S. Church Street in Brooklyn. Committeemen Bill and Brenda Mitchell are putting this event together, and it will fun doubling the population of Brooklyn with Republicans on Saturday 15 May at 8:00 AM.

Why so secret?

The Morgan County democrats are going to try again. They've called a caucus on 25 July for another attempt to elect a chairman, but the public isn't invited. For the record, every Morgan County Republican caucus held in the last four years has been public. Everyone is invited. Why so secret demos?

FLASH!!!
Just like me, local democrats are shocked and surprised by the abrupt resignation of their chairman Daymon Brodhacker. This is an interesting turn of events since the reorganization caucus reelected him only last March.

Regardless of his reasons, Daymon Brodhacker is one of the nicest people you’d ever want to meet. While I disagree with his spin of the 2008 election results here in Morgan County, and I certainly would not rate the performance of their commissioner candidate as a gain, those don’t detract from the fact that Daymon was a worthy opponent.

Daymon was a hard worker, but unlike some of his candidates, he never allowed his frustrations to effect his good humor. He was the happy warrior who probably knew he was fighting a losing battle, but like Benjamin Guggenheim on the Titanic, he went down like a gentleman.

Speaking of the Titanic, it’s hard to find a captain when you know how the story always ends. For Morgan County democrats, election day is like Bill Murray’s alarm clock going off in the movie Ground Hog Day; oh, not again.

Good luck Daymon. Speaking on behalf of the entire Morgan County Republican Central Committee, we thank you for honorably serving the electoral process.

John Voight on Obama
New Poll

Poll Numbers – Although President Obama remains personally very popular, views on his handling of federal spending have dropped significantly over the last several weeks.  According to the latest Gallup poll, a majority of Americans (51%) disapprove of his handling of federal spending and a plurality (48%) disapproves of his handling of the deficit.  The poll also says that President Obama’s favorability rating (67%) is similar to President George W. Bush’s favorability rating (65%) at the same point in his presidency.

Also, according to a Rasmussen Reports poll, Americans now trust REPUBLICANS on the economy more than the Democrats 45% to 39%.

America's greatest governor responds to democrat's specious plans
